The scene is constructed on the balance between artificial light and natural darkness.
The architecture emerges as a silent presence, suspended between interior and exterior, between the inhabited and the unseen. Light does not illuminate the space — it isolates it.
The title deliberately evokes a tension already explored in twentieth-century painting: the impossible coexistence of day and night, of reality and perception. Not quotation, but dialogue.
In Empire of Lights, time appears to slow. The image does not describe a place, but a condition: waiting, distance, stillness.
The work belongs to the Signature series, a project that investigates the relationship between form, silence, and perception.
