The work emerges from a conscious dialogue with late nineteenth-century English Neoclassical painting, and in particular with the formal research of John William Godward.
The figure is constructed as a sculptural surface: light does not describe the body — it models it.
The pose restrains the gesture, suspends the action, transforming intimacy into architecture.
The drapery becomes structural rather than decorative: a line that guides the gaze and creates tension between vulnerability and control.
The marble, cold and material, is not a backdrop but a counterpart — a stable plane upon which the body finds balance.
In this contemporary reinterpretation, photography does not imitate painting: it moves through it.
The result is a silent image built on order, measure, and the discipline of the gaze.
